Innovate for Life is an active call by Amref Health Africa to innovative teams across the globe in preparation for the Africa Health Agenda International Conference.
The call rallies innovators to participate in a two-day start-up hackathon in Nairobi, Kenya on March 7 and 8, 2017, with the purpose of developing solutions that respond to the significant challenges faced by mothers and infants across the continent. The solutions will seek to reduce the high rates of maternal and newborn deaths in Africa.
If you are an innovator with an idea that can reduce infant and maternal mortality rates, then apply for this opportunity.
Here are 9 areas that have been highlighted as primary need for solutions in the health sector:
1. Education on the need for pre and ante-natal care
2. Nutrition
3. Access to medical facilities
4. Access to affordable financial models that cover maternal care
5. Inadequate facilities and equipment to facilitate the process
6. Safety
7. Transport
8. Data mining systems
9. Community involvement
Note that the deadline for all applications that will participate in the international hackathon is 15th February 2017. If you are selected as a finalist and do not reside in Kenya, worry not, all your travel, accomodation and logistics will be catered for the duration of the hackathon.
